Six things to know before you join.
We don't hide the terms in small print. Here are the things most people miss when they sign up to a dental plan — all spelled out up front.
1. Three months' notice to cancel
To cancel your plan you must give a minimum of three months' written notice to CODEplan (our administrator). Treat this as a three-month commitment beyond the date you decide to leave.
2. 14-day cooling-off period
Changed your mind straight after signing up? You can cancel within 14 days of your subscription confirmation letter for a full refund — no questions asked.
3. Treatment discount clawback (12 months)
If you leave the plan within 12 months of receiving a discounted treatment, the 10% discount you received is repayable to the practice immediately on cancellation. This protects our ability to offer the discount in the first place.
4. Use-it-or-lose-it entitlements
Your exam and hygiene entitlements reset every 12 months and do not roll over. You must schedule and attend appointments within the membership year to get full value.
5. Missed Direct Debit consequences
If a monthly payment fails, CODEplan will attempt to collect two payments the following month. If it remains unpaid, the practice can serve two months' notice of termination — with up to three months of payments becoming due at once.
6. Notices are sent by post
Under the terms of your agreement, all formal notices (including any future price changes) are sent by post to your last known address. Please make sure we always have your current postal address on file.

Frequently asked questions.
Is this the same as dental insurance?
No. The Kingswater Dental Plan is a pre-payment scheme — it spreads the cost of your routine preventive care over 12 monthly payments and gives you a 10% discount on additional treatment. It is not insurance. The optional £1.99/month A&E add-on provides emergency assistance, not general cover.
What if I miss an appointment?
Your annual entitlement of exams and hygiene visits is based on you scheduling and attending them within the year. Missed appointments (with inadequate notice under our cancellation policy) can lead to loss of that entitlement. Unused visits do not roll over at the end of the membership year.
Can I change plans later?
Yes — contact us and we'll help you move up or down a tier. Plan changes take effect from your next Direct Debit cycle.
What happens if I need to cancel?
You must give a minimum of three months' written notice to our plan administrator, CODEplan Ltd. If you cancel within 12 months of receiving a discounted treatment, the discount you received becomes repayable. New members also have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of their confirmation letter.
Does my plan cover my children?
Plans are individual. Family members each sign up separately. Speak to us about family sign-up days — we'll walk you through it.
Can I use my plan at other dental practices?
No. The agreement is exclusive to Kingswater Dental Practice and is not transferable by you to another practice. If you move away, you can cancel with three months' written notice.
Will prices ever go up?
Your rate is locked until 2027. After the initial price-lock period, any change to your monthly rate would be notified to you in writing with at least three months' notice, as required by the terms of your agreement.
What if I need emergency dental care abroad?
Add the optional Worldwide Dental A&E cover at £1.99/month when you sign up. Most of our patients don't take it because their travel insurance already covers dental emergencies — but it's there if you want it.
